12th Sept - All day St.Petersburg
. Arrive St. Petersburg at 6.30am
. Have breakfast of gruel and tea
. Front gate to hostel and buzzer is broken so Rick jumps over fence/ skip to get in
. Share dorm with smelly Russian teenage boys who don't like fresh air/ opening the window
. Rick and I open window and catch up on sleep
. Wake up covered head to toe with huge mosquito bites
. Go for walk by river - see the winter palace from outside and walk over bridge and around the fort of St.Peter and St. Paul
. Go back to hostel and meet Carl (from the first capital of England - St. Albans) one of our vodkatrain companions
. Head out to rubbish bar recommended by the 'book of lies' - lots of hummers, leather jackets, bodyguards, sunglasses and legs on show
. Find awesome/ cheap student bar that sells beer in large urns

13th Sept - All day St.Petersburg
. Wake up with twice the amount of mosquito bites as the day before
. Meet fellow vodkatrain companions - Thomas Hardy and nurse Sophie from Leeds and Polina our lovely St. Petersburg guide
. Rick and I visit Russian State Museum - amazing C19th Russian artists' work
. Polina teaches us the etiquette of vodka drinking with good honey flavoured vodka and we finish the night on the cheap rough stuff...

14th Sept - All day St.Petersburg
. Wake up with more mosquito bites and a bad hangover
. Visit the mad Winter Palace/ Hermitage for 3 hours - the experience resembles a scene from The Shining
. Exhausted we return to the hostel for mid afternoon nap to recover from it and the rough vodka
. Go to production of Swan Lake with Tom and Sophie in evening

15th Sept - St.Petersburg to Moscow
. Visit ethnography museum in morning. Look at jars of pickled deformed babies while Nurse Sophie gives us a running commentary of how each deformity has come about (generally in-breeding) and further worse case scenarios
. Have sushi for lunch - hugely popular in Moscow and St.P
. Visit St. Isaacs Cathedral and go up to the top of the colonnade to get view over flat St.P
. Go for Russian meat pies at Ullmore - yum yum
. Walk around park next to the Church of Spilt Blood
. Go for meal with group
. Board train in evening heading to Moscow - postcards on table of carriage offering female escort services in Moscow!
