So strange to arrive in a new country via an airport. So depressingly mundane! Our only excitement is over a carpet tile at the top of a flight of stairs with a rumble-strip embedded in it - how sad! Airports will rob a place of its uniqueness, of its idiosyncratic culture - we could be anywhere in the world - and I feel disappointingly at ease with everything. I have a familiarity with the place which I feel I have not yet earned.
