wow! weŽre so close. i think that in exactly one week we will be staring out into the ocean and contemplating the end of our trip. we are deep into the heart of galicia now, 112 km away from santiago, 197 km away from finesterre. today will mark us having walked 1500 km, so maybe weŽll all to take a quick sip of hot chocolate to comemorate the moment, and also to warm up bc its really getting cold now. i think that it was probably in the high thirties last night. yesterday we hiked with a bunch of our cold weather gear on, and eskimo jeff made an apearance.
galicia is such a beautiful sight after the weeks of desert and scrub between pamplona and astorga. its very reminiscent of france, the hills, the green pastures, the deep smell of livestock...iŽve developed quite an affinity to staring at the many cows of europe, and through the power of cheese iŽve even begun to appreciate all that they leave behind. i never thought iŽd say that, and please please donŽt hold it against me. or make fun of me, like jeff and rob when they i stare at the cows and start drooling, in the words of jeff.
i digress though; we are at the end of our trip, and we can feel it. we were nearly about to break into a run and push ourselves very hard, but i broke down and couldnŽt do it. i just donŽt have a lot left in me, and i want to enjoy these last days of walking, so i was able to convince them that hurrying to our end doesnŽt mean finishing well, which is something that iŽve been praying about. iŽm not very good at seeing things through to the end, so this is pretty amazing that iŽll have been able to see this dream from its conception, just an inkling pulling at my soul, to the beginning of walking three years later, to its finish now. its feels amazing.
i love you all very much,

A chance to see Santiago
Its been 7 years since you were last in Santiago for the afternoon, after a first aborted attempt to see Galicia. Hope you didnt leave your passport in a refugio in Leon!
Happy Turkey Day!
Hey Trae!
Hopefully by tomorrow or sometime in the next few days you will be arriving in Santiago. I hope the last stretch went well. Santiago es precioso asi que me alegro de que tengais unos dias para disfrutarlo. Travis y yo nos marchamos a Atlanta esta noche...can't wait for tomorrow's turkey. Oh! I don't know if you've heard but I thought you'd enjoy a bit of news from the family...Sam proposed last week.
Suerte con el final del camino y disfruta de Santiago. All my best, marta
