Arrived yesterday from Zanzibar and checked into the Boulevard Hotel where my tour starts tomorrow.  Similar to the Meridian Court, the Boulevard is the latest in 60's modern kitsch! Had dinner last night in the dining room to the sound of medley Christian muzak...interspersed with Christmas tunes...eating Indian food and drinking masala chai...surreal.

This morning was more of the same with the breakfast buffet and then again at the Internet cafe...except there it was full on Christian melodies and rock ballads.  Such a change from the Arabic call to prayer that has become so familiar...

Nairobi is really quite a modern city...good banks and shopping.  Their local supermarket / Target type store is called Nakumatt.  You can pretty much get whatever you want there. During my first visit a few weeks ago, I won a 500 shilling gift card (60 shilling to the dollar FYI) which was very cool.  Got a new power adapter since my other one broke.  The things you get excited about on the road start to get somewhat mundane at times...

The elections are coming up here and with the exception of many posters of the different candidates...there hasn't been much exciting activity to report.  We'll be in Tanzania when they actually happen towards the end of the month....

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
