Finally arrived in Casablanca yesterday a day late but intact.  We all went to Ricks Cafe near the old old Medina and port last night for a tasty dinner and said our goodbyes.  This morning I slept in then like any good traveler looking for cultural exploration and architecural enrichment...I hopped into a cab to the hammam for 2 hours of industrial strength scrubbing!   In case you make it to Casablanca you must experience it for yourself:

For all of you who have never had a hammam experience...there's nothing like it at home.  Lets just say that I left Egypt, Tunisia, and a large part of the Algerian Sahara behind after finishing the scrub! The lady that was working on me just kept scrubbing and scrubbing and would occasionally drop an unusually large black collection of what used to be on my skin into my hand for me to see.  Gross.  I would have to say that this hamam, although not architecturally as spectacular as the ones in Istanbul, was definitely the best in terms of service and price.  After the scrubbing and rinsing, she soaped me up, rinsed me off then put all sorts of really HOT mud all over me and wrapped me like a burrito in heavy plastic and let me marinate for a bit...then there was a rinse, a jacuzzi, a lotion massage, more rinsing and then she sent me on my way!

I am back to the airport this pm for my flight to Spain where I won't be on the Internet or reachable for about a week during my Monroe Institute experience outside of Madrid.  Intuition expansion and things like that...should be very interesting.....
