Mom and I are organizing the multitudes of bags in our hotel room today in Paris.  Not very sexy but necessary for the continuation of our trip.  We did some laundry on the 26th when we returned and just wandered around the Bastille area of Paris near our hotel.  The other evening we wondered onto the Place Des Voges in the early evening.  What a site!  Over  400 years old comprised of 36 houses, nine on each side, of brick and stone with deep slate roofs and dormer windows over arcades.  Many significant events have occurred here over the years such as the three day tournament to celebrate the marriage of Louis XIII to Anne of Austria in 1615.  Madame de Sevigne, was born here in 1626; Cardinal Richelieu, pillar of the monarchy, stayed here in 1615 and Victor Hugo, the writer, lived here for 16 years.  We arrived at dusk and played gin rummy as the sun set over the horizon...wandering back to the hotel right before dark.

While the onset of our trip here was jam packed with activities, the tail end of our trip has been more leisurely and relaxed.  I had my hair cut and highlighted yesterday afternoon...a lesson in loss of control if I ever had one!  Turned out ok though...and now my roots are back to blond.

We were pleasantly surprised to be able to have dinner with one of my oldest friends, Kim, who was doing some business in Paris for the week.  We will meet for dinner again this evening.  It's these unexpected encounters that add so much to my trip.  When the moons align or whatever and things just work out!  Our tour mate, Karla, also joined us for dinner at this great restaurant near the magnificent Paris Opera House.  Our evening ended with a quick taxi ride to the Trocadero to see the full moon next to the Eiffel Tower with a cold wind whipping through the plaza...our warm taxi awaiting to bring us back to our hotels!
