Where I stayed

I arrived in Taupo this afternoon after another 6 hr bus ride.  The good news is the brunt of my travels is now finished, in nz.  The scenery driving north was definately different from the south island but there were still moutains, one large one in particular, think it might have been a big snowy volcanoe actually...the landscape was more vast once we were well oot of the city and towns, it was more brown.  The landscape in the north bit of the south island was very green with rolling hills.  Oh and fyi, the north has 3/4 of the entire population with 3 million here and only 1 million in the south.

Taupo is quite small but with the largest lake in New Zealand and known for the best trout fishing, ill pass on that though.  It's a lovely wee town.

I only have the afternoon here so wanted to make the most of it. I found a hostel with ease, and everything fell into place after that which i love and appreciate. I wanted to walk to Huka Falls but the hostel had mountain bikes for rent and the falls had bike trails so opted for that and the chick give me a great deal to rent it just for the arvo...and seemed more adventurous.

It's funny with traveling...i truly never know where im gonna be from one day to the next, what the next place is gonna offer, the experience or the people. Which all can be very demanding and challenging yet it can be just as rewarding and exciting...and i found this to be true this afternoon. I was surprised to found myself on a mountain bike, venturing through these trails, through the woods, challenging enough so i got a buzz from it but not too hard so i was oot of my realm and i was loving it!! I thought maybe a leisurely stroll to the falls but instead felt my heart pumping with a 2hr bike ride, up, down and around. The falls were full on too, a shit load of water coming though them and then found a different trail to venture back on. It was great. I was happy, i am happy. I certainly have my moments with traveling, feeling up and down so it is fantastic to be feeling it and loving it...where i am, what im doing!
