Alrighty roo...another long day of traveling, bus and ferry this time.  The ferry went from Picton in the South Island to Wellington (the capital of nz) in the north, crossing the Cook Strait.

I had an hour in Picton and it is a quaint, cosy town.  It is on the water obviously with a lovely wee harbour.  It was a gorgeous sunny day, only aboot 11 degrees but sun shining bright still.  So i just puttered aboot and took some pictures of Picton before boarding the ferry (which was huge) for a the 3 hour journey.

Now in Wellington, it is obviously more of a metropolis.  However, it is like a ghost town right now, with it being Sunday night.  I arrived pretty much at dusk so not much to do or see...and yes i will be moving on again tomorrow as im not feeling it here as expected, cities are not my priority.  I dont have much time left and will be heading north to smaller, more picturesque towns with culture and activites to entice me, hopefully.

As i was leaving the South Island everyone was saying to me that they hoped most of my time was spent in the south and i didn't leave too much time for the north.  So it should be interesting to see what the great north has on offer, im hoping some Maori culture and more adventure.  I however did not leave too much time here so im sure i'll be able to make the most of it.   But it is interesting that there are obvious opinions and biases with the two islands...and i knew the south island was supposed to more beautiful but now it is my time to see for myself.
