Alrighty rooo...so i had a busy one day tour of Georgetown compliments of myself. It's a very big island connected to the mainland with a longggggg bridge (10km, dunno really). The main city, Georgetown has lots of skyscrapers, busy roads...and very very helpful people. I couldn't seem to go anywhere without someone asking if i needed help or what was i looking for..brillant! English is widely spoken in Malaysia even tho Malay is the official language.

Penang apparentlty has lovely beaches and what not on the other side but i didn't venture that far as i had just been spoiled with beaches in Thailand. So i wondered around Georgetown to some temples, to the top of Penang tower (350m high) for a lovely view of the city and coast, to Penang Hill up a funicular train to 700m high..another view of the area (didn't really need to see both but hey). I stumbled upon a shopping mall which was amazing, with aircon, cash registers, lots of different shops and very friendly help,...just like home. So did some much needed shopping of some bare essentials and toileties that i haven't been able to find ie. razor blades, bras...it was very exciting which may seem a bit odd but true story, really appreciate the simple things. I also managed to get my washing done as i had literally ran out of underwear (which you didn't need to know) and was in dire need as my island hopping didn't allow the right timing or place to get it done. So it was great..to get replenished with everything.

I still had that lonely feeling and 'sick of myself' feeling as i hadn't spent any proper time with anybody for a while so i wanted to move on after only one day in Penang...so i did without any real problems with transportation...just a cyclo to the pier, boat to the mainalnd, and then bus...yay!
