I'm trying to beat the heat by heading to the coast...it's not working but at least i can cool down. I know now why people don't come to SE Asia in the hot season, cuz it's bloody hot..haha! Starting into the wet season as well so the last few days there's been a heavy downpour for aboot an hour which is nice. There's also an advantage travelin in the offseason - deserted beaches, seclusion. There's aboot 6 different beaches just few kms apart here and the difference is quite noticeable. So today i turned right on the beach and had a lovely lazy day...the beaches were lovely, some resorts but they were practically empty, white sand, almost blue water. It was a nice walk along the coast as well, big rocks to scurry around and then finally a lil' local village at the end of the beach. So there i lay, beach all to myself. It pissed down for aboot an hr..so what to do except swim in the rain and play with my poi in da rain then cleared beautifully and hot!

The first day i was here i bumped into the mad Lithuanians that were on my tour to Phnom Penh, at breakfast so walked around the main touristy beach with them, hung around, went for a long walk the other way on the beach...where the locals have their picnics and enjoy the sea. We also ran into the older Dutch couple from our tour again (who travel 6 months every year) so had a relaxing entertaining day. Then yesterday, i hired a bicycle..and rode aboot 5 km to yet another beach where it was quiet, few bungalows to stay in, few locals and lovely white sand again.

I found a friendly lil' guesthouse (where i'm not staying) that just opened a month so have had a few beers there and talked to the family...very friendly! I was talking to a man and he was saying how Cambodia is better now but it'll never be the same again since the war (i suppose no country can be really) and he remembers it really well, the bombs, the people, the madness. But he's looking into the future now..and i'm hoping the future will be very good for him...it's certainly a difficult life in Cambodia though!

So i embarked on sort of beaches tour by accident...really relaxing though. I haven't stayed in a place longer than 2 days for a while so nice to slow it down a wee bit..baby steps! I'm not sure what my next move is yet - buying a bus ticket tonight to 'somewhere'...
