We were blown away by the Alamo, we were expecting a small setup out in the middle of nowhere. Instead we were greeted with deadlock traffic and the realization that it is downtown in a city! I am sure Texans are shaking their heads in disgust at our combined ignorance (sorry Cassie). Anyhow
there is a small shrine and some very nice land surrounding it. We listened to some music being played and avoided the overcrowed gift shop. It was a surreal feeling with the large modern buildings peeking over the walls.
We asked a local where to get a beer and he directed us to the San Antonio river walk. No visit would be complete without a stop here. There were a bunch of restaurants and the options are varied, nice places with fancy wine lists next to a place that served 40s in a bucket and $3 fish tacos. We chose a mexican place that had a mariachi band playing. We walked around some more and exited through a courtyard that would make an excellent nerf battleground. We got a panoramic shot with Tracy posing.
After we got out of the parking garage we realized the Saint Patrick days festivities were starting up and would be a blast. The road was calling us and we decided to continue on rather than turn around and stay longer.
Onward to Roswell NM!
