Tuesday, March 8:  We arrived in Knoxville in time to meet up with Kate when she and Sam got home.  Sam (3 yrs old) had been quite excited to see us, but suddenly got a shy streak and clung to Kate's leg.  He warmed up to us pretty quickly and to my excitement chose me as his preferred playmate for the evening.  Over the last several trips somehow John has won this honor, so I definitely relished this chance.  While Kate, John, and I chatted, Sam and I played with play-dough, Sam snacked on some brownie mix, we built stuff with blocks, and I read him a story.  The chomping t-rex came into play a lot during our gun battle as well.

Later Michael arrived, we had a bit of dinner and all sat around catching up.  The evening flew by rapidly and we all finished the evening I Sam's room while I read another barrage of books and Sam performed some dancing/songs.

In the morning we were woken up by a gentle knocking on the door.  Sam had decided that it was time for us to get up and hang out with him and we agreed.  This is not a bad way to wake up!  After playing, a trip to day care, and a bit more catching up we ended up parting ways as Kate went to work and we headed back to Louisville.  All in all it was a short but sweet trip!
