So we finally made it to the Keys and are currently enjoying a game of rummy in our tent. This KOA site is on Sugarloaf Key and is seriously posh. They have a pool, hot tub, bar with a pool tab and arcade, restaurant, coin laundry, a dog park, a kid park, basketball goals, and a beach. I am thinking about taking up permanent residence here.
The drive here was beautiful and much longer than expected. Although having to turn around and backtrack 20 minutes to fill out a form for a boatride reservation (which ended up cancelling on us later) did not help. Luckily we were able to secure another seemingly better boat/snorkling trip for tomorrow at Bahia Honda state park.
We finally made it to Key West in time for dinner and ate at a great Cuban restaurant, El Siboney, which was off the beaten path. We then walked through several neighborhoods, the boat dock area, and Mallory Square. There are cats everywhere! I recall Dave B. (hi Alan & Maya) mentioning something about Hemingways cats and wonder if this has anything to do with it.
Now to beat John at another game of rummy then off to bed (or sleepingbag).
