After this we went back to Shane & Crissy's beautiful new house and hung out with Crissy, Maddie, and Rylee for a few hours before leaving
. The girls were in great moods and extremely playful. Rylee gave me big smiles after eskimo kisses and was extremely talkative in toddler language. Maddie was donning her princess dress (thanks to Donna's wonderful handywork) and attempted to talk us into bringing her with us to visit Leah in Cali. I guess we will have to take her when she is a little older. John and I really enjoyed having time with everyone in Douglas!
Right now we are about 100 miles past Phoenix and hope to make it to Santa Barbara tonight. The landscape we have driven through is amazing and Phoenix has some of the best manicured interstates I have seen in a while. We didn't take the opportunity to stop off since rush hour was about to begin and we did not want to get stuck. I would not mind stopping back by at some point if possible though.
This morning John and I had a really good run in Douglas. The weather was perfect being 55 and sunny when we started, although it felt much warmer by the end. We started at a local park then followed a trail up a decent sized hill (which feels like a mountain when running). There were several places where the trails split off. Luckily we chose the right paths since after the split we notice one of them went right into the area of a shooting range. This is definitely not an area I want to choose the wrong random path given that we saw a few no trespassing signs which has fallen down and randomly stationed border patrol guards. Overall the area was beautiful although at over 3,500 feet above sea level the air was much thinner.
