We were given the option to take an 18hr bus journey from Sao Paulo to Foz De Iguassu or to fly for about $50, needless to say after my experiences of South American Night Buses I decided to fly with 3 others.
Iguassu Falls stretch over the border between Brazil and Argentina and they are the largest in water volume in the world (look up the rest of the stats on the internet for yourself!) Today we visited the falls from the Argentinean side, crossing the border here is so simple, no restrictions whatsoever. We took a speed boat up the river, through some great rapids to the base of the falls on the Argentinean side. The boat driver was great, scream if you want to get wetter, he took the boat right into the falls, the power was amazing - you could hardly keep your eyes open through the force of the water! From every angle the falls were awesome, the roaring sound of the water just reinforced their strength. I wish pictures could do it justice, but I guess thay won´t (will upload some soon), I guess you will just have to visit yourself, worth a trip to South America in itself! After the boat trip we took a trail along walkways that overlook and cross the falls, again more stunning views (Even the fact they had allowed a Sheraton Hotel to be built there did not spoil the experience) There is definately an energy to be gained from being so close to such a magnificent creation of nature - truely a Natural Wonder of The World.
