Hope you've all been enjoying the Olympics, trying to keep up with it here although watching it with Chinese commentary isn't quite the same....! Team GB seem to be catching up on the medals table which is great, don't think they'll catch China though! I've particularly enjoyed the mens diving (Andy has earnt lots of 'perving credits' for the future from my enjoyment!), and seen some of the gymnastics which is my favourite. CCTV (China Central TV) has 2 channels on which shows it, but it doesn't seem to be live.
Busy week at work (well, had to be with the boss here!!), he's flying back to Bangkok this afternoon, then back here in 2 weeks. Getting loads of mailshots done this week to teachers coming back from the summer holidays, the International schools start back much earlier here than in the UK. Andy's cases are still progressing well, and he's on another appointment this afternoon - so it's all coming together which is good.
A good networking event on Tuesday at a restaurant near us, we'd met the manager at our first event & had kept in touch so it was nice seeing him again, and will definitely go back for food there another time. Not masses of people there but still some useful contacts.
Weds was quiz night at Paddy's, very busy this week and we realised it was full of teachers coming back from the holidays, got chatting to a few people, an Irish couple who arrived the same day we did & are teaching English.
Capital Club for wine tasting with Ray, and the usual quiz last night - again met some cool people including a Chinese actress who'd worked with Tom Hanks in the past.
Another Birthday card found it's way here, thank you Aunty Sal (shall I make a comment about it usually being late?!?!? No, better not ;)
The weekend is nearly here, a group of us are meeting in town at a fairly new bar called the Brussels Bar, got some good reviews. Off to watch Beijing Guoan play footie tomorrow at the Workers Stadium. Daytime depends on the weather really, had 2 days of solid rain earlier in the week, and more forecast over the weekend.
Having lots of fun still & meeting so many new people, everyone is so keen meet others and get chatting, you don't get that when you're back home really. It's nice for us to be meeting new friends together as a couple, and for Andy as well - having moved to Portsmouth it was a case of meeting my friends & family, and not really getting the chance to meet his own. However..... as fun as it is, we really do miss all our friends & family back home, no matter how many new people we meet, they can never replace the experiences shared with long term friends & family who really know who we are.
Have a great weekend everyone, don't forget to message us, leave a comment on here, or call - we love hearing from you. We've had 3185 views on our blog since we started!
