While Tracy was writing yesterday's blog I was dispatched in the pouring rain downstairs to the shop to get a new water bottle delivered. Knowing we had no food in the apartment I came back with survival rations, 2 large bottle of beer. After spending the day locked indoors as the rain fell all day without food we ventured out to Paddy's Bar to get some food before going to watch Beijing Guoan FC. Now this was no mean feat, we dressed as it was a cold wet UK day only to be greeted by 29 degress heat. So we had a little rethink to what to wear. I went out in jeans for the first time since arriving CAT boots T Shirt and Cardi and a large umberella from reception (100RMB deposit) Tracy had jeans on pixie boots green top (it's the Beijing Guoan colours) and a rain mac and small umberella.

Rain pouring down thunder & lightening all around we waded through the fast running mini streams. Now this walk normally only try takes us 10 mins at the most. 20 mins later we arrive at Paddys very wet and in need of food. We ordered 2 large beers and a chicken burger for Tracy and beef one for me. We sat there steaming away as the water dripped from our jeans and puddles formed around our feet. We was awaiting the phone call saying the game was off. It never came so we bravely set out to our meeting point to get our tickets for the game. Now this time it wasn't just mini streams it was fast flowing rivers. Infact, the water was over our feet on the pavements and we had waded arcoss the roads. We was so wet our jeans were now just absorbing the water higher & higher.

As we stood at our meeting point we discussed just paying for the tickets and going home. When Alistair (our new friend, an Internations contact - a 'reet Northerner', and an Ginger to boot!!) turned up he was so bubbly that we just went to the game how wet could we get??????? We waded several rivers to get to the stadium with several thousand wet fans. If you think I have writers imagination go to the bbc news website because as we was watching the game 13 people died, 30,000 were evacuated from their homes - in Beijing in the worst floods in 60 years.

If this had been any game in the UK it would have been called off at lunchtime but, we are not in the UK. So 7.30pm the game kicks off. I think the goalkeepers would have been better wearing wetsuits as the goals where water logged. The game it's self was like watching Portsmouth again and just as disappointing. On Wednesday they won 6-0 tonight they could only hit every part of the next expect the back of it. With 2 former Premiership players in the team they had around 90% of the ball. However in the first half the away team had 1 shot and scored from it. Infact it nearly didn't make it over the line as the water stopped it. Half time comes and we looked at each other and said should we go home and the reply was let's perservere we can't get any wetter........

The Workers Stadium was built 1959 and has no covering at all so everyone has their umberella's up and no one is sitting down infact everyone is standing on the seats. Our view of the games is mostly blocked by umberellas. My cardi is so wet and heavy I've taken it off and hooked it over my umberella handle and Tracy's rain mac is not doing anything but letting the rain in. Green top is also wet lol (as well as everything underneath....!).

The 2nd half kicks of with Beijing attacking the goal near our end of the stadium so we get to see alot more of the action. Mainly more shots off target. 10 mins to go Beijing take off a defender and replace him with a striker a positive move you would think. Well 30 seconds later the away team go down the other end and have their second shot on goal. Guess what they score.......0-2 now.

So thats the final score and the atmospher was amazing if not wet.

We headed straight home via Jenni Lous for a couple of bottles of red wine and nibbles. We were so wet they were mopping the floor after us.

As we walked into the apartment we stripped off completly and had to put everything in the washing machine and I mean everything apart from CAT boots and pixie boots lol.

That's all from Pez's match report for now...... Tracy will update you later with the rest of the weekends adventures, but just for a taster - it was HOT & SUNNY & DRY!!!!
