Hiya,

We've both been out for the first time alone!!! (well, don't think you can count my run yesterday morning as it was only within our compound!!).

Andy went to Paddy's bar last night to watch the England match, which was midnight our time, so off he went around 10pm for a few beers & made some new friends - he wore his Everton top, firstly greeted by the barman in a Liverpool top - oops!!! Made for good banter, and an enjoyable night was had. Bless him, came home at 3am, got into bed & gave me a kiss, waking me up to tell me he was sorry if he kept me awake snoring.......... guess what happened next?!?!! Yep, I was awake the rest of the night!!!

I went to the British Club ladies coffee morning - again at the Capital Club, so another excuse to enjoy the views from the 50th floor. It was really clear today too & you could see the hills in the distance. They do exist!! The group have coffee mornings every other week with guest speakers, or a quiz and there were about 40 women, and a slightly belated Jubilee theme, somehow they had managed to get lots of bunting, and put on coffee, scones and sandwiches (cucumber of course!). Met some really nice people, who have given me a few recommendations, from a hairdresser, restaurants, websites where you can watch films & tv programmes for free, other groups to join and various apps to download. Just the sort of info a newcomer needs!!

Really enjoyed the morning & it was nice to meet some fellow ex pats, some had been here for years, a few more recently. I've even enquired about joining the comittee too (I know, not me at all but wanting to get involved in as much as possible out here!!) so they are going to invite me along to the next comittee meeting.

Still getting used to the fact that it's ok to do this kinda thing in work time as it's considered networking!! Love it!!!

Signed up for our internet yesterday so we should have that sorted by the end of the week / weekend, yay!!!!

Quiet night in tonight, then I have a ladies afterwork networking event which is at a hotel quite local to us, it's a new one so that will be good.

We need to decide what to do for Andy's birthday on Saturday, we were hoping to get tickets for the football, and Beijing are playing at home but they have sold out :( another time though.
However, don't think we can top his Birthday last year at Ascot involving a diamond ring....!!!

That's all for now!

I just cannot believe it was only a year ago that you did the "Ascot thing with the ring!" SO much has happened since then - surely it must be longer than a year?!
Good to hear you are meeting up with other ex-pats - there's nothing like chatting to others who simply 'know' how you feel about certain things because they've been in your shoes already. I'm sure you'll make loads of life-long friends there.
Sun is shining today to the UK is looking pretty good - not too hopeful for tomorrow though.
You'll be 'well jel' of me today - I spent it on a school trip at Beaulieu Motor Museum :o) Took a group of our 'gifted and talented' mathematicians on a trip - there was some maths involved but lots more excitement seeing the James Bond exhibition and the Harry Potter car! I am no petrol-head but even I enjoyed it!
Enjoy your networking and speak soon,
Much love
