We're back!!

So, where were we....... I know, having clocked up about 20 or so apartments..... well, guess what - we saw another 6 yesterday!!! Having been told they were all the same, they weren't. Different sizes, floors, views etc. We finally chose the one we wanted, in the original complex that we fell in love with, it's a 1 bedroom apartment, 80 sq m  which has never meant anything to me before, now I know that 10 sq m can make all the difference.

We slept on it awaiting a call back from the agent this morning, whilst the other agents fought over us and tried to out-do each other, nearly ruining it all for us. Finally, we agreed. Arranged to meet the agents & landlords brother & sister with the agent at 2pm today. We eventually completed everything 4 hrs later, yes - 4 whole hrs.......!!! The agents battled over commission, fees, agreements etc. Thank goodness we had Joy with us who agreed everything for us, checked the contract over etc. Transferring money wasn't an easy job either but a very long story short - we now have an apartment which we can move into later on tomorrow!!!! Guess this is just one of the many challenges we'll face along the way, however we have a 12 month contract so will stay put for that long at least & not have to go through that again!

Once we move in, we have to register with the local police so that we know where we are. Those of you from work with PNC knowledge will know that means we'll be listed as the equivalent of 'alien registration'!!

Work? We've been practiscing our first meeting scripts, but no more training today.

Food - by the time we'd finished apartment hunting it was 8pm, so a quick burger & chips in Paddy's Irish bar & a beer was in order, and am in desperate need for a beer tonight too after all that! Chinese for lunch bought by the boss, very nice.

PS. For Sal - we had Lasagne for tea (no gravy!!!!!)

Sal on

Just love your blog updates! Oh boy, guess what you have been through re the apartments is just one of those adjustments you make for living in another country, all part of the 'initiation' huh. You'll look back in a few months and laugh about the whole thing! By then you will be true 'ex-pats' or 'aliens'! Noticed not one of your blogs goes by without you mentioning food hee hee! Glad you are having so much fun and already enjoying the experience of a lifetime. luvnhugs to you you both xx
