Another good day in the office, loads to learn - and who'd have thought I'd end up with favourites on my lap top such as BBC Business, FTSE, CNBC etc.....!!! Suddenly I have become interested in money, and I don't just mean spending it in Primark!!!

We have pretty much gone through the first meeting - it has a structure (for people from my old job a bit like the shape of the call!) and it's a case of learning it and being familiar with it. I've tried to think of it as a bit like teaching a new lesson, to begin with you clutch onto your notes, read & read them, deliver it a few times, needing your notes less, then delivering it all without having to try and being confident with it.

Finished about 3pm to go & look at some more apartments. Firstly, how frustrating are the real estate websites...... they lure you in with attractive prices, which are nothing like the real price, say an advert will put 600-800 a month, when they are really over 1000 a month!

Luckily Joy in the office has been fab at ringing around for us & finding something suitable. We must have seen 8 apartments today which are now mostly a blur!! 6 of them a bit further out from the office from where we are now next to the biggest park in Beijing which is cool, first one was nice, the rest rather tired & dated. As the afternoon went on we were both thinking the same thing, that we really wanted to be back in the centre nearer to the office, as even though it's not far to the others it could take 45 mins to travel a short distance in rush hour. The majority of our business will be in the area we're in at the moment too, as we'll go out & about to appointments mostly.

So, we came back to the first apartment block we viewed & liked when we were looking at a short 3 month let in a studio to see what bigger apartments they had. Really loved them and are booked into see a couple more tomorrow afternoon after lots of thinking & number crunching this afternoon. It's great as even though the rent is a little more that we thought, some utilities and the management fees are included and the ones that aren't are only approx 40 - 50 max a month & that includes internet. We aren't spending money on cars, insurance, petrol, Sky packages, etc. etc. so it all balances up. Decisions decisions........

Been out for dinner & had Thai tonight, fantastic red & green curries - very hot & spicy! Sat outside, it's a bit cooler tonight & has been cloudy & a few spots of rain which is quite unusual. One of the negatives so far is smoking everywhere, forgot how lucky we were in the UK to have no smoking in bars & restaurants. At least sitting outisde it's not so bad. Back at the hotel now catching up on some 'homework' and the blog.

Our lap tops are with a colleague tomorrow to install some software, so we won't be 'blogging' tomorrow night, but will keep you posted the day after with some apartment news I hope!!

Hoping to put some more piccies on - had some great ones of the Beijing Duck last night but Andy's phone is playing up. Grrrrr......

Anyway, night all.

xx

Hi Guys
It's great to keep up-to-date on how you are getting on. Sounds like the flat hunting might be looking a bit more hopeful - would be nice to find somewhere to call 'home' and you can make yourself a bit of cheese on toast now you've found the cheese!!
I'm sure you'll both soon get the hang of the new 'shape of the call' - like falling off a log for you.
All good here. Weather still lovely although bound to turn to shit as it's half-term next week :o)
Will have to install Skype and have a chat to you sometime - that would be cool!
Much love to you both
