Okay so I'm still in Thailand, but I'm having an awesome time! Since my last entry, I spent a bit more time in Chiang Mai chilling a bit. I rented a bicycle and toured the city a bit. On the last night some friends and I looked around at the Sunday market and got a massage for, oh, about $1.50! I have huge knots in my shoulders though so it was a bit painful. Afterwards, we sat down to eat and it started pouring rain. Finally after about 30 minutes of waiting, I decided to go home. I love walking in the rain though!
So the next morning a friend and I take off for the northern town of Pai. Our trip took a long windy 4 hours. Finally we arrived and we picked up a new friend from the journey. We peruse the area for decent lodging and find a quaint little bungalow. Later that night I see another massive spider and high tail it out of there! I found a different place; a little more modern and clean looking. As soon as I do my nightly bug check under the pillows, a smaller spider scampers out and crawls into the crack of the bed!! Geez! I can't catch a break! Eventually I convince myself that i must sleep somewhere, so i pull out my sleeping bag and wrap myself in it for the night. Since then i have moved twice. One time to a different place, then back again before I even tried sleeping there! I know, I'm nuts!
Anyway, I've been spending each day with my friend from Chiang Mai and an Australian from the bus trip. We rented motorbikes on our second day and went exploring through the countryside. There are several waterfalls and hot springs here and we have seen most of them and attempted to see the others. the motorbike has been an interesting experience in itself. I am a little panicky going down hills, but \I've only almost had one accident from driving on the wrong side. Oops! Today I had a minor accident turning onto a dirt path. This only added to the collection of cuts, scrapes, bruises, bites and rashes that I've acquired since \I've been here!
The views have been remarkable and well worth the pain I've endured in transit! I have attached a few of these nice views. Finally ready to part with my bike after today's incident I am prepared for my next stop. First i had to get another massage. I opted for a foot massage because I pretty much wrecked most of my other body parts. I often caused the masseuse to laugh because I was giggling every few minutes when she touched the more ticklish spots on my feet! Now I can leave Pai satisfied, but only after another fantastic Thai dinner and an American breakfast! Next I'm off to Laos!
