My 10 day trip to Karijini was absolutely brilliant and very tiring we walked in temperatures up to 40 degrees!!
This was my birthday present to myself ;-).
I went sandboarding, which was cool going down but hard work coming back up! Walked through lots of bush and gorges swam in the natural water pools and waterfalls, slept under the stars, managed to get a full moon in there and saw shooting stars plua lots of sunrises! Had dolphins swimming round my feet at Monkey Mia, snorkelled and saw reef sharks, went to Pinnacles Desert, Kalbarri Gorge, Ningaloo Reef, saw Stromatolites, apparently the oldest living things on the planet, and looks a bit like lava rock on the floor in clusters! Stayed at a sheep station in a tin shed with plenty of spiders, bugs and frogs coming out of the sink and toilet! In Karajini there were hundreds of flies around us so purchased a hat with a net attached to protect my face, as the land is so dry and the soil red there was red soil everywhere and as we were staying in an EcoCamp we were discouraged to not take a shower for the 3 days we were in the park and make use of the waterpools down the gorges, I am sure all 22 of us were smelling and looking good! Slipped in the gorge and managed to have a lump on my shin like something out of "Tom and Jerry", it hurt so much at the time it made me cry!!
Managed to swim and sunbathe for a bit at Turquoise Bay (and yes it was absolutely beautiful) so now have a tan :-). Went to a beach party which was really cool and am now aware when I am being "come-on to" so managed to get out of the 2 advances I had! lol.
Our bus had to push 2 cars out of the sand banks as they had crashed into them! Naughty boys probably driving too fast and lost control!
I managed to squeeze in a small sparkly fermented grape juice and birthday cake on my birthday and we had a small party at the camp site.
Lots of love to you all
