Sunday started off v. slow and with lots of uncertainty.  We weren't sure whether Mark's work in WV was finished or not, so we spent most of the morning wondering whether or not it would be ok to head back to Knoxville.  We ended up staying put, a decision that was made after our 3rd trip this week to a local Mexican place with the best salsa I've ever had.  I think this decision was influenced by 2 factors:  the fact our bellies were full of chips and cheesy goodness and that the AC had just gone out on the company truck.  Around 4pm, we finally decided to take advantage of our surroundings (and free time) and leave the hotel room and it's multitude of movie channels.  We randomly headed west to a small town called Berkeley Springs in search of its state park.
I must admit that when we stumbled upon Berkeley Springs State Park, we laughed a bit.  It's teeny; about the size of my backyard.  But, I sold it short too quickly.  It's famous for its natural springs; one's that George Washington praised for their healing powers.  After an hour dangling our toes in the water, we walked around the main street (and only street) of downtown, enjoyed some sandwiches at the Creekside Creamery, became amazed with a family who had  8 kids (almost all boys), and fell in love with the Berkeley Springs Movie Theater (which shows 1 movie 3 nights a week for 3 bucks).  The trip was capped by a short drive to the Berkeley Spring Overlook at sunset.  It was a very charming town and I'm glad we came.
