On Saturday Mark and I hopped in the teeny rental and headed 70 miles east to our nation's capital. Our last visit several years ago must have been on the hottest day of the year, so this was our first visit without becoming disoriented by the heat. With the exception of a quick peak at the Declaration of Independence in the National Archives, we spent the day walking around the Mall area looking at the monuments for a second (and in my case, 3rd) time. I never get tired of walking around the Mall, especially since it's free. Even though the museums are also free (and Mark loves them), I have the patience of a 5 year old and am the worst person to accompany you. After 20 minutes, I'm ready to leave. So, after multiple scoops of ice cream, some super tired feet, miles of walking (most of which spent looking for a post box to mail a Father's Day Card), and a nice view of sunset from the back of Lincoln Monument, we called it a day and headed back to our new home away from home - Martinsburg, WV.
