Scots are actually friendlier than Brits and its' a VERY beautiful part of the UK and even food is better! (though, it's still British:).  We didn't go to any actual distilleries, but the Whiskey Museum was great to learn everything about whiskey-making and history of the drink.  There are also lots of nice castles in Scotland and there's always plenty to do in Edinburgh!
