Time to kill with the "Plane Spotters" of Madchester.... the trip really has got off to pulsating start. So far we've picked up our bags, walked through the airport, found an internet cafe, had a couple of coffees... fascinating stuff as we while away 8 hours till we fly out the the Cape. But the Plane Spotters truely are a new species to me, who needs a safari when you can just buy a return ticket to Manchester ;-)
Just a quick resume of our travel plans.........
Week 1 - Stellenbosch for the World Cup, sober and worn-out and looking forward to the after party!
Week 2 - Cape Town staying in a luxury villa maybe doing a bit of shark cage diving, kloofing, seeing the wildlife, climbing up Table Mountain & drinking plenty of wine....
Week 3 - Travelling along the south coast Garden Route & Eddie is taking on the sharks in Jefferies Bay, good luck!
Week 3 to 5 - Namibia travelling around the dunes, Skeleton Coast & Etosha National Park trying to spot the big 5 (i can't remember what they are though!)
Week 6 to 7 - Mozambique chilling out by the beaches by the Indian Ocean, surfing & diving and visiting a wee old town we're not sure what its famous for (Maputo btw)! Will tell you later...
Week 8 to 9 - Malawi rediscovery our Scottish roots (Anna?!) in Blantyre, on a mission?! Lounging around on the shores of Lake Malawi, seeing animals in Liwonde National Park and the extinct black rhino?, and if we haven't caught malaria by this point, this is our best chance, Malawi in the rainy season....
A long long bus journey through Tanzania to Dar Es Salaam and fly home.... Back home for St Paddy's Day and a big pint of Guiness
But as my fellow travel companions will testify, I'm not really the best person to be describing our route!!
