After driving through Shenandoah National Park which gives some great views into the Virginian Mountains we headed to Washington D.C. When we got there at night most of the public buildings were illuminated. You can tell that this is the capitol of the United Staates. Around 9 pm we had to leave the place before the White House and about 10 Minutes later a helicopter flew right over our heads landing on the gras next to the white house. Since it landed behind the buiding we could not see who got of. In the news later on we heard out that the passenger was the president returning form visiting the tornado destruction in the south of the Staates.
The next day was Saturday and the city became more and more crowded. Lots of tourists.
Visiting the Museum of American History is really worth it. They even exhibit a VW.
The National History Museum is also great. I had a chance to take a look at the word largest blue diamond with 45,5 carat. A pretty big stone. All Smithsonian museums in Washington are free and they are all worth visiting.
