Today Daniel and Lily got up early to check out the craft fair at the Museum, we didn't take too many photos but we spent our money pretty quickly. We met a local person from Astana who also practices Falun Dafa, she only spoke a little english but had a helpful friend who interpreted for us. She brought a small camel-felt angel for Lily.

We met Tory and Heath at the Delia cafe half-way back to the apartment but it was too late to go back to the craft fair, we will all go again tomorrow.

When we where all back at the apartment we saw a 'Christmas Carols' type  show on TV and realised it was just around the corner at the Kazakh British Tech Uni. We all got dressed again and walked up to the show. It was bizarre to say the least, fireworks, giant christmas trees, bears, snowmen, etc in lights and a disco lighting stage with singers and dancing kids. There was a lady badly miming Abba (Mama Mia). The disturbing highlight was two girls dressed in black pretending to be witches/goblins and planning to destroy christmas. We thought there must be a 'good folks save christmas' sequel, but no, it was just a local girls pop-group and the next act was the limbo, hoola-hoops and juggling uni-cycle girls. Something about the western christmas just hasn't translated well into the Kazakh/Russian Psyche.

More from the craft fair tomorrow.
