Well everyone is now feeling marginaly better and we managed a 6km walk this afternoon to the RamStore which we had heard about on another weblog. We weren't 100% sure where it was but knew it was on Furminov St, near the Presidents Residence, fortunately after an hours walk, we passed the impossing presidents residence and national museum and there it was, just like in the pictures.

Heath, Lily and Daniel had a turn on the mostly empty in-door skating rink on the ground floor. We had managed to time it just right because as soon as we got off, the rink filled with about 15 9-15yr old girls and one boy doing triple-axles, dizzying spins and other fancy tricks. Very exiciting entertainment while we had our lunch (Lily has taken a liking to KFC style chicken).

We walked back through the city and found an amazing building painted in lime green with yellow trim and bizarre gardens, it was getting a bit dark so we didn't stop for photos. There was also a small fur-coat (real) store, with sale stock for around $500AUS.

Tory decided to do other work this week and  phone  list of contacts from another helpful source and arrange interviews for next week. Our spoken Russian must be improving as we can now buy goods at the stores without going vacant eyed on the storeholder or resorting to bizzare hand gestures.

Almaty is starting to get quite chilly now, imagine Canberra in winter and that is your nice autumn days.
