10th August 2005

This morning we took a trip with dolphin adventures to see bottlenose dolphins and we weren't dissapointed. We spent an hour chasing after them as they made their way along the harbourside weaving inbetween moored boats. We even got to lie on the bow of the boat and eventually the dolphins came so close that they came up and under the bow so we were inches away from them. There also came a time where we were with a pod of dolphins which we could swim with so we donned wetsuits and dove in. We were oh so close to them as they were swimming around and below us. Sarah attracted the dolphins by humming kylie minogue's la la la song. Seemed to work as they were jumping around us and swimming just below us. It was amazing even if the water was only 12 degrees.

After this we cought the ferry to the mainland and headed up to Waitangi where the Maori people signed a treaty with the british toask for protection from the crown. There is a flagpole in the grounds depicting where the treaty was signed, however, they do state that the flagpole is in the approximate position so it could have been anywhere. We then drove north to Doubtless bay where we went for a beer and spent the night at Mangonui
