July 27th 2005.

We were woken this morning by the Department of Conservation warden at 8am, reminding us that we hadn't paid for our nights accomodation. Bugger.

We headed off to the Frans Josef glacier first thing passing through the Haaste pass, going through Mount Aspiring national park. We made it Fox Glacier firstly, walked as far as we could and we were stopped because a river had made its way across the path. Not to be stopped by nature I made a way across and managed to get a photo of the glacier. Quite impressive place, but a little overcast. Its amazing to think that the gorge we were stood in was made just by a moving ice-cube rubbing away at the rock.
We drove on to Frans Josef, booked a hike up it for the following morning and retired to the carpark which would be our home for the evening. By the end of this trip we should have qualified as fully fledged gypsies.
