2nd January 2005

Still feeling the effects of new year, we cleared the cobwebs and took DOm and MArtine on the Bondi to Coogee walk. The weather was great, and once again the scenery was magnificent. Today was not just a day for walking, but a day for preparation. Each and every time we have gone somewhere and done somthing there has come a time where Dom has answered the call of his liver (pickled by now for sure) and has to have some form of alcoholic beverage. We bagged up a long next VB in a cooler bag just on the off chance he needed it. We made it to Clovelly where we stopped off and spotted a Cocatoo nesting in the rock face. For once Dom didnt ask for the beer, but once it made its appearance, he was like a kid at christmas.

3rd January 2005

Went to the wonderful Sydney aquarium today. Saw a duck billed platypus, and a quite large croc. The displays were very impressive, and the underwater runway through the shark tank was great. We got to the gift shop and Martine bought some more "Tat".That evening we took Dom and Martine to the comedy quiz again. The previous week we were asked to pick a topic for every 5th question. Dom piped up with whiskey, and seeing as though he has about a million bottles of the stuff back home, we thought we'd be on a winner. By the end of the first round, he had 1 question out of the 4 specialist ones correct. By the middle of the second round, it was getting worse, and then, after a little chat with the quizmaster, he piped up "Don't worry if you don't get the questions right on the specialist subject. Our expert has only managed to get 1 correct so far. Isn't that right Dominic from Manchester?" Needless to say, the man who cant be shocked, was completely lost for words at being made the butt of the joke, and had to wave at everyone just to compund the humiliation. 1-0 to us.

4th January 2005

We visited the olympic park today, where we walked around, then caught the ferry back down the Paramatta river. We went for dinner at victors, one of the best, and only, deep south cooking restaurants in Sydney. Unfortunately Dom got some very bad news whilst we were having dinner and it was felt by all of us. Our thoughts definitely go out to him and the rest of his family.
