Where I stayed
Anchorage Caravan Park
We all slept well in our coffin. That is the space of top of the driving cabin, which BaH and me enjoy, the big Tomcat less. Getting off that ladder during the night, drunk would be a dangerous adventure! So: do not get drunk OR make sure you do not have to get up to go to the bathroom.
Only 50 km further, we stop in Port Denison for a fresh bun, our only food we buy. It looks like a cosy little place!
Did I mention the tattoo I got for being 1/3 an embalmer? Osiris: the Egyptian God of dead and afterlife
Highway 1 and freeway 60 melted together and it is endless. We pass the occasional road train but the traffic is very calm. It really feels the same as the Australian Outback.
We skilfully ignore Geraldton (which is for the way back) and head towards Kalbarri, which is known for its gorges and its very own National Park.
At Northampton, we turn east, detouring to Port Gregory.
That is the heart and soul of the crayfish, the local lobster and it has a pink lake, which gets its colour from salt, bacteria and algae. Some parts are even purple. The village is coloured in pink and purple too.
The gorges are nice. A kangaroo greets us. BaH is not permitted in the national park, so Tony decides to send me out on my ownn tomorrow for a guided tour and a hike.
Since it is still low season, there is not hiking and the scenic flight has no customers yet for tomorrow.
Four is the minimum, so: no change. Unfortunately, wild camping is not allowed ANYWHERE in the neighbourhood.
So: we camp officially in 1 of the 3 camping sites: the 1 on the beach.
The prices are all similar (around 35$, which includes everything: power, water, dump station, showers,...). We watch a great sunset again, cook and watch our favourite soap: Criminal Minds.
The engineer has it all: movies, fan, spare power, ... .
