We say bye to our diving buddies, the crew and the boat and we are in the office by 08h30. When we left, we saw advertisement for the Comfort Inn: 69$ and Wi-Fi. We try to call them. Which is not as easy as it sounds. When Tony finally gets through: it is 105$. What happened to the 69$? Lots of blabla, as usual. They advise the Rainbow Inn, next door. T calls: 79$ and yes, free Wi-Fi. We take a taxi and check in.

The motel: not the boulevard of broken dreams but the hotel of depression. And, of course, the internet is not for free: 24$/day for the 2 laptops. The walkway, in front of the room is also the terrace. People are sitting at the mini table with 2 chairs, in the walkway. Whole days. We go to the bar happy hour in the evening. Bar is as depressing. Old couples are being bored. Waiting for something to distract them. Another old couple and there is conversation. The waitress has the personality of the chair I am sitting on. Next door: the restaurant: we have a meal and go back to our internet, which is not working well either.

The next morning, we go for a wild goose chase. We want to rent a car. Maybe a convertible? We call. No answer. We go on internet. No booking possible if less than 48h. Website not available. So, we start walking. And walking. Office not there. Office not open. Office open; convertible available!!! But: it is probably 20 years old. The roof is manual. IF it would open. Which it does not. We drown our disappointment in booze. 2 whole pints. And book a poodle: Hyundai something.

But, first, we go to Kuranda. That is for tomorrow. Silly enough, we extend our hotel. We are too lazy to look for something better, pack and move.
