Pickup 9h20, after I double checked the reservation I made last night for when we are coming back, the 6th and the 7th. No reservation found. New reservation made. I underline I want the same price. That would be difficult, we got internet prices. I say, in that case, my husband would take out his laptop and log on, what is the difference? The manager is called. The deal is made anyway. We arrive at the jetty 9h25. The boat even leaves 10 minutes early! Looking around: French, Scandinavian, Irish and American. They do not look like divers. It is a small speedboat: rather bumpy ride. The island is everything a romantic soul dreams about: snow white beaches, deep blue water, green palm trees, peace and quiet. 5 ha big, walkable in 20 minutes. It reminds me of Virgingilli, one of the smaller Maldives' islands. It does have a military base (to protect the island from the philipines, I guess0 and 20 policemen: we feel save.

We arrive at the resort at 11h20. Francis is waiting for us and we are guided around like a herd of cows: I hate that 'let's do this together' attitude. The non divers can go to their new home. And I was wrong: almost everybody dives. I wonder how the French couple with a (very pretty) little girl of about 5 will do that?
We have to fill in forms, all info we provided already via internet. We have to say how many dives we did so far (no introduction with names). I start with '312'. Rising of eye brows. Because I know precisely? Then: about 10, 5, 7: ouch! Last 2 people: more than 700: beaten!
We do get some useful information about diving and mealtimes. The good news is: we are going for a 'test dive' this afternoon on the house reef.

Room at last and ... much better than expected. We were thinking about something like Tofo: small, old and primitive. But, no: big chalet with view on white beaches and bright blue sea. Large bathroom with everything you can expect, A/C, fridge, coffee maker, spare bed and balcony with view. Of course: wireless broken. Two PC's with internet available during office hours, expensive and mostly busy. AND NO MOBILE REACH. I am cut off the rest of the world. Will be very weird!

Lunch is a buffet and to our surprise very nice.

15h: dive briefing, same guy as from the introduction. The reef is artificial (read: junk) and the visibility low. Soon, all four of the experienced divers lose the dive master:. We get told off, after the dive. The lady defends us. I do not bother. Wish I did afterwards. He is in the wrong. But, he says that a trial dive is not meant to linger. I do not like the guy and am glad to see that our dives tomorrow are not with him. We dive at 08h15, 11h15 and 15h15 with the nice Irish couple: Majella and Kevin and all the beginners.

And: the dinner is again delicious. Buffets are dodgy things and can be plain cr.ppy: remember Greece, Girls? What island was that? Water, tea and coffee are for free and available all day, the rest you have to buy at the shop. Hubby and I are cheap, buy the cheapest bottle of wine and regret it: yuk. I win at cards!

7 o'clock: alarm for our first 'real' dive.

I miss you already!!!
