This Christmas morning, in the year of the lord 2007, the storm is still bad in Cape Town.
Dr T finds us a hotel in Clanwilliam, with wireless, so I can talk to my friends this evening.
On our way, we get checked by the police! Dr T has to show his driving license. They have no idea what they are looking at. Never saw an Australian driving license before.
It is still raining when we arrive there. The girls at the check-in have a name tag with 'hotel trainee' on. They are not trained to smile or say 'welcome' or 'enjoy your stay'. We are not surprised: no wireless in the room. The trainee offers another room with .... 2 single beds. NO way.
The room appears nice but is unpractical and small. My Hubby suggests taking the 2 rooms: 1 for the internet and 1 to sleep: isn't he the sweetest? But, that is too daft.
There is a Christmas buffet in the hotel. With silly hats and everything. It is not bad but I feel lonely and miss my girls.
