FAMILY AND FRIENDS MATTERS

Happy Birthday to Josephine Smith, Tony's goddaughter. Have a good day and make sure you get a good present from your dad and mum.

OUR BLOG

Today is to be an easy day, although Hels wants to go into town to explore the local shops and to practise her bartering skills. We need to have a few bits and pieces to take home but we are still very limited because of our weight allowances and quite literally a lack of space in our backpacks.

We wandered down the streets and eventually chatted to a young lad outside one of the shops and did some serious negotiations with him. We saved ourselves a few pounds but he was happy in the end with the big wedge of notes we handed over.

The streets here are typical Asia streets. Paths are uneven, full of slopes and holes, used as a general car park for scooters and advertising notices for restaurants and cafes. Hence you are walking most of the time in the road or gutter, avoiding scooters being driven by 12 year olds!

We returned to the safety of the hotel pool for a few hours and then off for cocktails.

We ate at the main hotel restaurant this evening. Nothing very special but easy to get home from here to our little room and courtyard.
