Staying for a second day so that we could be lazy. Still awake early at 7am when the sun came up. Read books in bed followed by bacon & egg rolls.... spoiling ourselves.
At 11.30 we went to collect our kayaks as the tide had been coming in for about 3 hours. wee got on the water and decided to paddle down the smaller stream/river rather than the big river that would have lead into Karamea. Hardly had to paddle at all on the way upstream due to the tide, however it was a different matter once we turned round! Had great fun for an hour and half, then took the gear back had a chat with the site owner. Discovered that the big fish that feed on the whitebait are yellow eyed mullet... just thought you'd like to know.
Unhooked went into town. Posted some postcards and had coffee, filled up with petrol ready to set off again tomorrow.
Back late afternoon and then went for a long paddle down the river as thet tide had gone out again.. This time we walked much further into the estuary. This place is amazing.
