TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS

Work out what you want to do on a Sunday and ask staff at hostels/hotels to check if things open. Include restaurants and if popular eating places then book.

Wherever you go ask staff to negotiate an'all in’ price where taxi driver waits for you. They will wait for hours and works out cheaper than taxi there and back. Also get to chat to your driver and learn a bit about Samoan life.

OUR BLOG

Breakfast and swim. Alison and Kent said yes to Sliding Rocks, so we booked shared taxi. Off at 10.30 to Papaseea Sliding Rocks, which are a series of small waterfalls dipping into deepish pools where you can slide down the mossy rocks and into the water. One problem we found with some of the smaller ones was that when you go down there was no way to climb up again especially in bare feet. Rocks slippery and Health and Safety nightmare…..therefore tremendous fun for old and young alike.

We all went down the big slide and Helen was really up for it…this from the girl who finds the Snail Ride at Joylands in Great Yarmouth too frightening….very proud of her and hopefully you can see the video clip attached.

After going down the big slide all 4 of us sat and chatted and then cheered to encourage some Japanese or Korean girls to go. Great fun.

Back to hotel after couple of hours and then swim and relax. We had some biscuits, pate, bread and cheese slices so we shared a Samoan lunch with Kent and Alison. Kent donated some Banana Chips which sounds disgusting but were very very nice. Biggest problem was that eating late meant that we were not particularly hungry at night. We did get up after a snooze to walk to the pizza house but being Sunday and with other restaurants closed, it was packed. We decided not to eat and came back to sit in pool area to carry on our chats with Alison and Kent.Nice to chat about the States and learn a bit for our own States trip in a few years time.
