Hey Guys,

So after a fun day of Motorcycles and beer, the 2nd day of the tour was headed to South Dakota. The drive from Madison to South Dakota was very country and full of farms and hectares of fields. It wasn't a bad drive but there isn’t a whole lot of scenery to see on drives like this when it is the same thing the entire drive.

Our final destination in South Dakota for this day was Sioux Falls. The Sioux Falls is a waterfall type thing which is not very big but is still worth seeing. It is no Niagara but I still enjoyed seeing it none the less.

We stopped at Walmart which for those who have never been to Walmart, this place has everything. Groceries, clothes, dvds, books, luggage, plants...it is just endless!!! So we stocked up on snacks and anything we wanted or needed for the next few days just because it was all there to buy. Walmart is just an experience on its own.

We stopped at the SPAM museum, yes SPAM: the ham in a can that we all know and love...yeah right!! I can’t eat SPAM, it is not something I choose to eat but going to the museum was going to be interesting to see. I had no idea what they would have in a SPAM museum though. It is just meat after all, so I was interested to see what was in store for us.

We went into the SPAM museum and the staff were very nice and passionate about SPAM which was good to see I guess. They had a gigantic wall as you walked in and it was full of SPAM cans which when you look at the picture I couldn’t even tell you how many were up there. We then watched a 10 minute film about the history of SPAM. This film was hilarious!!! It was the funniest thing I had seen in ages!! They had SPAM advertisements, the Spamettes, who were a group of 4 ladies that sing about SPAM, they looked at the history of SPAM and how it came to be produced, which was for the soldiers in WW2 as they needed to keep meat like ham fresh and able to be sent overseas. It was an interesting look into it all, but it was really funny how serious they were about SPAM!!

After the film, we went into the actual museum which had a map of the countries in the world that eat SPAM and sell it. They also have a fake supermarket which highlights every single thing the company sells, not just SPAM. There were fun activities to do as well. The best one was timing yourself to fill, package, wrap and store SPAM cans in the fastest time. It was quite fun!!

Some of the people on the tour actually bought some really random and
funny things from the SPAM museum. They had everything from SPAM in cans
of course, as well as other things with the SPAM logo on them like air
fresheners, sunglasses, tshirts and anything else they could think of i
guess. It was funny to see what they came up with in the gift shop.

After the SPAM museum we had a few more hours of driving until we reached Sioux Falls. The Sioux Falls were very nice to look at. Although not very big they had red rocks which I hadn’t seen yet on my trip to the US, so seeing something with a Western feel was really exciting to see. We reached the hotel in the late afternoon and then had dinner. It was a pretty easy night. I just relaxed and rested up for the next day.

On the cards for tomorrow was Keystone, South Dakota...Mount Rushmore was not far away now!!!

That’s all for now,

Love Toni xo
