Hey Guys,

So Vegas is basically easy to some up in a sentence...Gambling, Shopping and Heat!!! Las Vegas is in the middle of the Nevada desert so it is understandable that it is hot. July is also a hot month anyway in the US during Summer so again you expect heat. But when you actually arrive and feel the heat, you kind of wish you were wrong and wish it was a little milder. But this is Vegas.

Like I said before, I had caught a cold in LA through the air con, which only stayed during Vegas because it is so HOT outside and so COLD in the casinos. Literally when you walk the strip and past all the entrances of the Casinos, you can feel the air con hit you as you walk past. So I did keep my cold for much longer than I would have normally but I did keep a light cardigan on even outside to try to make it go away.

Anyway, we flew into Vegas at about 2.30pm from LA. We got a shuttle to the Venetian Hotel which is themed like Venice in Italy. It was a really nice hotel and we had a suite which had a lounge area as well as beds so it spread out the room a little more which was good. Mum and dad went exploring after we arrived at the hotel, but Paul and I relaxed in the room and watched tv for a few hours which we needed and enjoyed.

We left the room and had dinner on the strip. Then we walked along since it was dark outside and everything was all lit up. We saw the Bellagio fountains and Caesar's Palace and the Mirage Volcano going off. Vegas was starting with a bang!!!

The next day we went to the Outlets and did some shopping. I have been to DFO at home and compared to the sales going on there, Vegas is something else!!! Everything seemed to be buy 1 get one free or half off. It was incredible how much cheaper things were as well. I didn’t buy too much as I am going back to Vegas at the end of August with my Contiki tour so I will be heading back there no doubt. It was a good day really and we explored at night again along the strip and also gambled on the pokie machines. It’s fun to play machines you aren’t familiar with so I had fun playing after a long day of shopping!!!

The 3rd day in Vegas saw dad and Paul do a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. This was a 4-5 hour tour so Mum and I just walked around to some of the casinos and looked around in them and gambled a little bit in each of them too. We went to the Cosmopolitan Casino and saw a huge Chandelier that was a bar so that was very Vegas and completely why we had to check it out. We also went to the entrance of Aria, a new hotel and casino and saw the water feature that they have at the front it was really refreshing to stand there in the heat, plus the fountains were really cool to watch. After dad and Paul got back, we all went to pool at the Venetian and relaxed. It was so hot!!! We thankfully had seats in the shade but you basically just get in for a dip and then lay in the heat for a little and repeat. It was very refreshing and with 3 pools you had heaps of choice on where to swim. It was a very relaxing day which was what we wanted. We then went to a shopping mall near the hotel that had a lot of great shops and we got some things there so it was good over there too, not just at the outlets.

The last full day we had in Vegas we went to Madame Tussauds since we had booked tickets. This location had a lot of Vegas stars but it was also just very Hollywood. It was good though and it was interactive so you could play basketball against Michael Jordan and Shaq and Golf against Tiger Woods. After that we went back to the Venetian and Paul and Dad went on the Gondola ride as Mum and I had been on it last time, so we followed them doing that. If you haven’t been to Vegas, the Venetian has a top level with shops however in the middle of it all are canals like in the real Venice and Gondola’s go through constantly. The roof is also painted with blue skies and clouds so it’s really weird but again so Vegas, and is actually quite nice to walk through.

After this we had been planning on going swimming again but it down poured and they closed the pool for awhile so I ended up gambling a tiny bit and so did mum and dad. At 5.30pm Mum and I got ready to head to Treasure Island as we were seeing a Cirque du Soleil show called Mystere there. The basic idea of the show was acrobatics and an adult baby and an old man popping up every so often. It was really good, great acrobatics I just couldn’t tell you what the real storyline was. The guy as the baby was funny and the old man interacted with the audience so there was comedy in there as well which was good.

We ended the night having a little gamble. Mum and I went back to the hotel and then she and dad went back down to have more of a gamble (surprise surprise) and Paul and I went to bed watching tv. So overall Vegas was exciting, just very hot and I will be back there so you’ll hear more from there soon enough when I return there.

Bye for now, New York is wonderful so far, I love this city!!!!

Love Toni xo
