Hey,
So i woke up hoping that it would be a nice day for my day off so i could go somewhere fun, and again luckily for me it was a really hot day!! So, i had decided beforehand that i would go to Atlantic City. Atlantic City is just one of those unique and quirky kinda places that you have to experience if you visit the east side of the US. So i'd seen Atlantic City in a few tv shows so i always thought it would be a good place to visit if i could do it. Since i have seen everything but Washington DC i chose to see Atlantic City as that was the other place i wanted to see and hopefully i'll get to see DC on a camp trip on a saturday before i finish.
Anyway, i took the train into Philadelphia and then caught a bus on the New Jersey Transit since Atlantic City is in New Jersey. It was only about 90mins from Philadelphia so i got there at about 11.15am which was good. The bus was only $15 return so it is really cheap yet again to catch a nice bus long places which is really awesome for me. Anyway, i walked from the bus station towards where the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. It is very hard to not know where you are going in Atlantic City cos there are casinos rising above everything else so i used them aswell as my map as a guide, so it didn't take long to get to the Boardwalk. I first saw Ceasers which was very elaborate and Las Vegas looking so i can't wait to go to the vegas one, and then walked along the Boardwalk from there, and saw the Beach and the shops that lined the Boardwalk which was nice. Though many shops are very tacky its part of the charm of the place, so you kinda overlook it.
Eventually i found the Taj Mahal, Donald Trumps main Atlantic City casino, cos he has a few. I was very excited to see that in the flesh finally because it was used in Sex and the City when they stay in Atlantic City, even the casino inside, so i felt like i already knew it. So i couldn't not gamble while i was in there, so i spent $5 on the pokies and won 11 free spins but that was it, so i ended up walking away with nothing but it was fun just to say i've gambled in Atlantic City, so i don't care. Plus its Vegas where we will be spending more money...right mum and nan-you know it :)
After that i walked along the beach and then bought some Salt Water Taffy, which is what Atlantic City is most known for in terms of food, so Taffy is basically chewy lollies. I thought they were nice. And then I went into Ceasers and looked around but i didn't play anything. Ceasers was totally different then Taj Mahal as you can imagine, but it was good to see them in comparison to each other. Atlantic City basically gave me a mini version of what Vegas will be like, or atleast feel like, although i know Vegas will be nothing like it when i eventually see it because no place is like Vegas, but i guess Atlantic City has given me an insight into what to expect from a place like Vegas, so that is good. Plus they don't check ID...kids are allowed in they just can't play can you believe it??
There were alot of Outlet shops which is why Atlantic City is a good place to visit. I could have easily spent heaps of money on Tommy Hilfiger, Guess jeans, all of that type of places, so i could have spent more time there if i had chosen to shop so that shows the type of place it is. But i really enjoyed it.
I only spent about 4 hours there, but i saw everything i wanted to and had a really good time which is everything i wanted from it.
When i got back to camp i went to the King of Prussia Mall and bought a few things that shall remain nameless and some things for myself like Survivor All Stars on dvd-the one where Rob and Amber get together, and it was so cheap at $25 which was awesome, and i got Supernatural season 2 the book on that which made my day cos it was only $15 Bargain!! I haven't bought much for myself yet so it was good to finally do that when i saw things i really wanted.
So overall, it was a great day. Probably one of my best days off cos i was able to take a relaxed pace and enjoy myself, and although it was very hot i managed to go inside to the casinos every so often so it wasn't so bad.

Well, Take Care, and i hope i gave you a good understanding of what Atlantic City is like.

Toni xoxo
