Hey,
Well it was a boiling hot day when I had my day off last week. I went into Philadelphia which is about a 20 min train ride from where i am, and with me came the Aussie Jemma and the Welsh guy Matt, as we had the same day off. We got off at the train station and walked about 30 mins to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, aka the Rocky steps. So we saw that, ran up it again in the daytime this time even though it was so hot, and we saw the Rocky statue they have there as well. When we got there there were heaps of police riding motorcycles and having pictures taken so maybe they had just graduated or something cos they were in front of the Rocky statue.
We went to a Farmers Market for the lunch where the Amish have food stands so i had a cinnamon pretzel and oreo flavoured ice cream (the choc biscuits they have here if you don't know). It was nice and only cost $5 including a bottle of water so its worked out well for me buying lunch on my days off. It was good to see the Amish too cos they were all wearing their old fashioned clothes and things so that was fun to see, but they were very nice and i enjoyed the food so it was good.
After that we went shopping and i found a few dvds for $10 that i really wanted that I can't get in Australia like 'What about Bob?' with Bill Murray-i love that film, and then we did some historic things like saw the Liberty Bell and toured Independence Hall so it was good to see historic American things like that, especially Independence Hall which was an old style building with a court room and other nice things.
After that it was still hot so we decided to leave. But we had seen pretty much everything we wanted to so it was a good day.
We had the night off too, so i borrowed someone's portable dvd player and watched the Dawson's Creek Finale dvd that i got for $4, in preparation for my trip to Wilmington...only a few more weeks before i'm there!! :)
Some of us went out to a bar called Kelly's that night for a few hours so that was fun to chill out for a bit too and dance.
So i had a really great day in Philadelphia and i will probably go back anyway at some point, because i don't believe days off should be spent sleeping or hanging around campus when i could be seeing such great places. So expect to hear about more places in future blogs.

Take Care everyone,
Love Toni xoxo
