hey,
so i had a full on day in New York City. I went there with Abby a girl from Sydney. We left at 6.45am and were dropped at the local train station, then we made our way to Philadelphia to catch a bus. The bus is a local known one in Chinatown but its just like our bus coaches in Australia and it was only $20 return so it was a bargain!!! It was a 2hr bus ride, so we left at 8am and gor in at 10am. The best part was as we approached NYC from New Jersey and i could see the Manhattan skyline of the Empire State building and Chrysler buildings but especially when i could see the statue of liberty...it was surreal i have to say. I've seen it in so many pictures and to just see it in the distance made it clear that i was there. We were kinda near the bottom end of Manhattan near the Brooklyn bridge when we got off so first we went to Carrie's apartment from sex and the city since i had to see that cos we were near it. Then we walked up Broadway and got onto 5th ave and just got a feel for the city as we walked to the top part where Central Park is. From the moment i got off the bus i knew i was there and it was unbelivable i tell you!! Everyone needs to experience NYC once in their lives!
Anyway, we just basically walked along 5th, and 6th ave's for awhile and took in the sights. Then we saw the Empire State Building and went on the street below and just looked up at it hurting our necks, but it was a lovely building.
We saw famous buildings like Tiffanys and the Plaza Hotel and the Waldorf Astoria Hotel which was fantastic. Then it was on to Central Park...it was weird since i've seen it so many times in pictures and i was finally standing at the entrance of it. But we first took a horse and carriage ride thru which was only $20 each including a tip so it was cheaper than i expected, but so worth just the experience. We then walked thru Central Park and saw all the places we wanted to...bow bridge, Bethesda Terrace, ballfields, the dairy(infomation desk) and ofcourse the mall-tree lined walkway i love to look at in pictures. All of these things have been used in countless movies so it was fabulous to see them in the flesh finally.
Then we went to the school that Gossip girl uses for filming, its actually an orthodox chuch but as abby and i are great fans of the show so that was great. By then it was 5pm so we were literally buggard, but we had to go all the way back down and it was peak hour so it took ages, so we got on a bus halfway and managed to get to Chinatown for the 7pm bus. It was great to finally sit down for 2hours, but the day was so worth it!!! We made it back to Philly at 9pm and were back at camp by 10.30pm. All in all it was tiring and hot, but we got alot of exercise and saw so much, that i cannot wait to go back after camp. It will be awesome. I am in awe of all the places i got to see so it was fantastic. New York City is definately a unique city!!

Take Care and i'll write soon.

Toni xoxo
