Tropical storms suck! Luckily we bought some Havana Club rum back from Cuba with us and managed to throw Katy a decent birthday party with the Rainsong volunteers anyway. The sanctuary isnīt quite what we expected and is a little disorganised and lacking of funds but there are 5 monkeys which have all stolen our hearts - 2 of which are baby howler monkeys which seem content to sit on my head and then jump to Katy when they need the toilet - hehe (I havenīt trained them to do it, honest).
The storm made us very wet and generally miserable for the first 6 days or so but now itīs subsided and we have beautiful sunshine and the place really does look like paradise. We took a 5 hour trek through the Cabo Blanco rainforest nature reserve which is 15 minutes from our house and spotted several wild animals including a rather amusing white bollocked howler male who was quite content to pose for the pictures below (bollocks not included).
