Where I stayed
Today we left the Yasawa Islands and headed back towards the main island, Viti Levu. After a 4 hour air-conditioned boat ride we reached Beachcomber Island, our home for the night. Beachcomber is a small island about a 20-minute boat ride from the mainland. It takes only about 5 minutes to walk all the way around the island on the beach. This island was much more full than any of the other islands and had many more homelike accommodations as well as a sand bar and dance floor. After acouple hours of watching Shawn White dominate the Men's snowboard final at the Olympics it was time for beachcomber to show us how to party, Fiji style. A few of the friends we had met at the other islands happened to be staying at Beachcomber as well so it felt as though we knew almost everyone. The nightlife at beachcomber didn't disappoint at all, it definitely lived up to the reputation it has as the "party island." We started off the night with bula dancing (kind of like the mecarena) and talking with new friends around the beach bar. After a couple hours of dancing we headed for the beach, went night swimming and didn't return to the 120+ bed dormitory until well into the early morning.
