We spent several minutes outside (in the cold) after the opera before we managed to hail a taxi to take us back to Grand Central to catch the 12:22 train back to Fairfield. At this time of night the trains run hourly so we didn't want to miss this one.
Today we caught the train from Fairfield to Grand Central in New York. This is a commuter run with express trains taking about 75 minutes. Once in NYC we joined the hordes looking at the Christmas decorations and shopping. None of us had expected it to be so cold or for there to be so many other people! We went to Rockefeller Centre to admire the Christmas tree and watch the skaters. We had an early dinner near Lincoln Centre before going to the Metropolitan Opera to see "The Marriage of Figaro". Bryn Terfel was Figaro. All the singers were great, as was the orchestra.
