There are now seven of us, including "the girls".  We had a long chatty breakfast before Tom and I caught the train into DC and the Corcoran Gallery.  That is, until we saw the queue/ line outside.  So we went to the Freer Gallery which specialises in Asian arts.  They had a special exhibition of Japanese screens and prints from the Edo period.  This is also where the Whistler room is exhibited.  This is a deep, ornate blue room that Whistler designed for a home in London.  Its purpose was to display Chinese porcelain as well as one of his paintings.  Unfortunately the owner of the room thought Whistler went overboard (it is not calm and quiet) and their friendship (and the owner's sponsorship) ended.  The whole room was later bought and shipped to America for this gallery.

Home for a lovely dinner 'en famille' of turkey sandwiches - the traditional meal the day after Thanksgiving in this home.  Linda had roasted the turkey just so we could have it tonight.
