The weather forecast had us worried for Wednesday as it said San Francisco was going to be 59 degrees F and overcast. I quickly jumped onto the iPhone to see that 59 degrees was only 15 C. Well I'm not sure what the temperature actually was, but it was actually another sensational day. We quickly got ready and checked out of the hotel.

The first thing that we had to do was drive down Lombard Street. I'm my 3 times to San Fran and Janenes 2 visits, we had walked down Lombard St but never driven. So with Janene armed with the video camera, away we went. It was good fun and the kids loved it, so after stopping at the bottom
for a few more pics, we went down again.

The next stop was the Golden Gate Bridge. We drove around to the south side and parked the car to check out the bridge. The sun was shining brilliantly so we were able to get some nice pictures with the bridge in full colour.

There were two stops left to do before we headed to Yosemite. The house that was featured in the movie Mrs Doubtfire and Alamo Square to see the "painted ladies". The houses in San Francisco are quite amazing with their architecture and colours. We saw a notice in Alamo Square that 2 of the Painted Ladies were for sale. One was for about $1.7m and the other was $3.999m. Imagine paying a fortune for a house that people keep photographing every day and every night. Nothing would be private.

Anyway, it was time to head out to Yosemite so off we went. The drive was totally different from the one about 18 years ago. The suburban sprawl has definitely moved east. Last time we made the trip there were hardly any buildings in site, but now there were signs of civilization everywhere. I think the traffic was a little heavier too.

The good thing about the sprawl is that we finally got to go to Costco. We did a bit of shopping and had some lunch there. I got an all beef hotdog and refillable drink for $1.50, and the kids both got a 1/4 of a pizza each for $1.99. Janene picked up a HUGE Caesar Salad for $3.99 that we all had a go of but didn't finish it. Bottomless drinks were only 59c each.

So now we are in our room at the Yosemite View Lodge where Nene cooked up a nice dinner and we sat and ate it on the balcony overlooking the Merced River. The kids had a spa after tea before bedtime and we don't think we will be able to get them away from here as they love it. Tomorrow we head into Yosemite and check it all out. We have seen plenty of snow already and we're not in the park yet. Hopefully the weather will continue to be sensational but we will see in the morning.
