Travelpod update
Less active on the travelpod site. Just means busier in general.

Highlights:
Got back from fantastic trip to Koh Lanta and beaches. Stayed at new place for a month. then realized 105 degree humid heat means air conditioning makes a good investment.

Coughing, sluggy, couldn't sleep. Saw my Chinese Medicine doctor who said get air conditioning asap, and had to laugh because found a nicer place the day before.

Gradual moves are a luxury. So settling into Feungfa Place with TV, AC, fridge and shiny shiny floors that make everything look like it's floating on water.

Then came the demonstrations in BKK. TV always makes news look more disturbing. In Chiang Mai, 12 hours north it felt a bit safer. A few tire fires, but nothing like BKK. John Lennon's Imagine played over clips of fires and people getting shot.

Government axed some TV (censorship has pulled Thailand down below the top 100 nations for freedom of information). Like a US catastrphe on network TV it was the same thing on every network .(lLke when the president in the US gives a speech)

Kenny G is big here: they had Auld Lang Sein playing before the prime ministers speeches announcing more curfews. I don't know about Kenny G and looting footage run together.

Somehow curfews and Auld Lang Sein don't mix. I mean if it's New Year's Even doesn't that mean you stay up all night having a ball? Not now.

So today a week after the saddest day here: May 19th we are in curfew starting from Midnight to 4 am. Wonder if those who want to walk up the hill to the temple (which takes all night) on Friday will be exempt from being "shot at will if suspect you are a danger."

Funny things, too.

Shopping for Danger sign at Mall.

Took pictures of red shirt area where only shots are people doing whiskey shots. No one wears red so the joke is all red clothes will go on sale sometime soon. You can't wear red (red shirt-poor people protesting) or yellow (die hard Thai citizens that think red shirts are lame) or Pink (forget why)

So sticking to patterns is a good solution. And so it is with life: patterns are most comforting.

New friends discovered on FaceBook. What an unexpected marvel and blessing. Handling the new stimulation prooves a bit jarring: but now know how to set privacy settings, ignore people who FB too much (esp. those I barely know) and a new vow to spend as more time on other ongoing projects.

Yes, having three distinct FB profiles does complicate things. My PC-friendly page, the more casual Tomji as writer/artist page and then the Altar Ego. She's a handful!

More soon. Stay well and connected.

Tomji
